How a Monthly Donation Built a Library

Priya Sharma discovered AIM Pathshala through a social media post in late 2021. A software engineer in Mumbai, she had been looking for a cause she could trust โ one that was transparent and directly impactful.
She started with a one-time donation of โน5,000. When she received a detailed receipt, an impact update, and a personal email from the team within 48 hours, she decided to set up a โน1,000 monthly recurring donation.
Over the next two years, Priya contributed โน24,000 in total. On a visit to Pithouri in January 2024 โ her first time at any AIM Pathshala centre โ she learned that her cumulative donations had been pooled with others to fund a reading corner with 400 books.
Standing in that room, watching children silently absorbed in their books during free reading period, Priya was moved to tears. 'I had no idea,' she said. 'I knew I was donating, but I didn't know it looked like this.'
She has since doubled her monthly contribution and recruited three colleagues in her company to donate. She is also exploring a corporate CSR partnership for 2025.
Priya's story is a reminder that consistent, patient giving โ even at a small scale โ can create something lasting and beautiful. Every rupee has a story.
